In House Decorator(s)

When I walked into this room yesterday (not our official playroom), it brought me great pause. Pause for the task at hand (in order to vacuum), pause for how quickly things can be carried from one side of the house to another, pause for creativity, pause for memories of all our furry friends and how long they've been with us, but most of all, what brought me the greatest pause, was how happy it made me.

Happy Weekend Friends!

  2. I love this. I see so many complaints about kiddy-mess in the house and I have to say, I just love it in mine. Not all the time, but almost always it just makes me so, so thankful to have our kids.

  3. I like all the boxes and firetruck stacked up on the youth chair! My twin and I had identical chairs growing up. I am one of 6 children and we never had toys anywhere but our bedrooms. My mother ran a tight ship!

  4. Never stop pausing because it goes way too fast! I now miss all those messy days of four children.

  8. Thank you for this! It made me "pause" to be thankful and count my blessings at 3:35 a.m. Maybe not being able to sleep is a good thing!!! Thanx again!

  10. Now my kids leave shoes, socks and dirty dishes. I'm so thankful that you are thankful...it does go by in a flash!

  11. I used to worry that if I stopped for a moment, the children would grow more, leave home and I would be alone. And damned if that isn't just what happened ! :)

  12. We recently sold and moved from the farmhouse where lived for 35 years, and there are many such scenes in my memory bank! Heartwarming!

(We are getting ready to paint our new-to-us home. I would love to know the color of the trim in your "play" room. It looks like the perfect colonial gray-green that is eluding me in my search!)

  17. Although my child is grown many years I have 5 fur babies and it gives me so much happiness to see their toys spread on the floors throughout the house to the point of tears at time for when they too are gone. The happiness is the thing to cling to and etch on the tablet of our mind. Now Thai I have said that I have a question. We redid our floors last year and it was important we used non toxic finishes. We used ECO products mainly because we were taking a trip through Spartansburg and could visit the warehouse. I was greatly pleased with the no odor but not so much with my husbands choice of the top coat. I like no sheen or matte, and love unfinished but him not so much. Which brings me to my question. I looked at the paint deck they gave us as I want to go with all white walls as I like art and fabrics and fresh flowers to give me color in a home. I looked at the Cyrus Springs color and see light beige but your beautiful photos show it the color I really would like. Can you say that it is close to the swatch or your pictures? And how would you compare it to Simply White. I liked the Natura by BM Paints but that has a terrible odor too. (I have a sensitive nose!) Thank you in advance for your feedback/opinion.

    1. The thing about white paint is that it's all so different, yet so very much the same. For example, I compared our white color options with Simply White because I was familiar with it. Compared to Cypress Springs, Simply White is yellow. But at our old house, it read as white as the snow. We have found the ECOS color swatch and actual color to be the same. After doing much research on green paint companies, I felt ECOS had a good track record, were transparent with their product ingredients and people were there to talk to you, which is great. Good luck!

  19. Well used and dearly loved rooms in a home are full of cherished memories. I bet your little ones can't wait to explore every nook and cranny of your new home. These pictures are lovely.

  21. That's what I call "perfect moments"... when a moment in time fills you with joy! I try to look for those moments throughout every day. Like Karen, above, I love finding all the girls toys scattered in the house and yard.
I spy some MA boxes! :):) xxoj.

    1. Yes, you should know that both the Legos (in plastic container) and the Madame Alexander boxes made it into the 'sculpture.' ; ) xoxoxo

  22. I just had to share that my husband gave me my sample of Cyprus Springs last night! I opened it with trepidation and wanted to sigh with happiness when I opened it. It is not like my swatch card (which by the way has been sitting in the garage for at least 6 months). It is a beautiful shade of white. Before leaving for work I got out my paint brush to put sample spots on walls. It does not carry the yellow I see in Simply White or the green I see in White Dove. I will play with this but wanted to let you know that I was very pleased with the color.

    1. Yes, isn't it amazing how it compares? I actually used Simply White and White Dove as markers just to see the difference in my new white to be. As my color consultant said, Cyprus Springs has both cool and warm properties. It's a lovely white!
