The Blueberry

Blueberries are in. We have been bringing home quarts upon quarts of them from our local co-op. These are organic low bush blueberries. The fruit is smaller than the high bush varieties, and (according to the dumplings), "They are so cute!"

We eat our blueberries with yogurt mostly. And of course, spilled over our favorite french toast or pancake breakfast.

Happy blueberries to you.

  1. My husband grows organic blueberry bushes on his land and I was just wondering if they're are ready by now. It's amazing your little ones are already talking in sentences. Have a wonderful rest of summer. xx

  2. I buy my blueberries from a great little organic farm here in NY State .. I made a "Blueberry Buckle" this weekend .. the taste of Summer :)

  3. May I ask how old the dumplings are now? Some of their verbal expressions surprise me but I know time flies. They are probably older than we realize. I do remember when they were born. Been loving your blog a very long time. :)

  4. Hi Dianne, The dumplings are three and a half!

  6. lecker!!! ich mag heidelbeeren auch sppp gern!!! im moment bekommt man sie sehr günstig!!! alles liebe von angie

  7. The dwarf blue berries do well at the edge of true woodland here.

    In a designed landscape? No.

    Odd but true.

High bush blueberries do great in a landscaped garden.

  8. The blueberries right now are SO good and sweet! I had the best blueberries at this weekend's farmers market in the NW. Reminds me of Blueberries for Sal.

  9. They remind me of Wild Maine blueberries, which are the best in the world!

  10. Blueberries are so very charming fruits! A lot of work but they are so wonderful! Great you grow them organic! To bad I'm to far away!
All my best from an Austrian gardener and a happy happy time

  11. I agree with Tante Mali, it is a whole lot of work to pick them, but well worth it. I like almost any kind of "heirloom" fruit or vegetable. It's great to keep all those varieties going strong. Gorgeous shades of blue!

    Take good care,

Thank you for leaving your thoughts. Kind regards, Catherine
