Portrait

I've always wanted to have a professionally-photographed portrait of myself. I'd want it to be a photograph that captures all that I am, all that I have been and all that I desire to be in this world, a photograph that embodies so much of me that when my closest friends and family saw it, they'd say, "Yes, that's her. That's Catherine."

There are photographs of people and then there are portraits of people. The art of capturing the essence and light of a person requires a special gift, and that gift is bequeathed to few.

I have had the honor and privilege to meet one of these artists, photographer Patrisha McLean. She sees the subtle beauties of expression within the faces of her subjects, and is able to capture them exquisitely. Her work is simply stunning.

Patrisha is one of an illustrious group of portrait photographers who are participating in
a portrait session auction benefiting the Maine Media Workshops. Bids are accepted at the event and online, which is why I am mentioning it here on my blog.

Now that would be something I would like . . .
I see an image of you in my mind . . .
I hope the portrait is in the same field . . .

I love portraits. You are correct, when done well they truly have the ability to show who a person is.

Just last year for the first time in what seemed to be a million years, I had professional photograph taken of myself-wow. It was interesting me, looking at me :-)

Look forward to seeing your photograph.

I looked through Patrisha's galleries, and her pictures are incredible! They reminded me in some way of the Migrant Mother photograph taken by Dorothea Lange.
