The valley is filled with blooming lilacs. Our own yard has three bushes and although the blossoms have been sparse this spring, I couldn't resist clipping a small bouquet for the house. I asked Mike to clip them for me as the blossoms were too high for me to reach.
I just used a small porcelain pitcher to hold them as the vessel I usually use (which belonged to my late Grandmother) is amidst a myriad of boxes in our storage unit.
I'm always amazed how freshly cut lilacs fill the house with their fragrance. It is dreamy.
Happy lilac season to you!
so beautiful. lilacs are my favorite!!
ReplyDeleteLilacs are definitely one of my favorite spring flowers. I, unfortunately, missed the window of opportunity to clip some for in our home. I saw them on the bushes, and thought, "I really need to fill a vase with those," but then never did. Bummer. Yours look lovely!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a house with lilacs out in the yard. They were my mom's favorite. I tried planting a row when we first moved to our house, but a summer drought was too much for them. I can just imagine how wonderful your view is- what a delight it must be to be able to bring them into you home. They are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. Love the fragrance of lilacs.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I too enjoy bringing a bit of the outdoor into home. I am just so grateful for all of the beauty this season offers. ox
ReplyDeleteNothing says spring better than lilacs - my favorite. Our season for them has passed here in CA where I live. Lovely images.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!

Lilacs are one of my favorites too. Ours bloom in April and are long gone now. I always do a big arrangement in my grandmother's amethyst glass vase. It's a yearly ritual I love.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to plant a Lilac bush in our yard, but it's something I want to do. I love the smell of Lilacs! Yours are beautiful
ReplyDeleteOurs have all finished now, except my dwarf Lilac bushes.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any gardens to putter around in at your rental? I'm sure you already have inspirations and plans for new gardens stored away for when you've settled in your next home.
I saw a picture of the bed you bought for your children in this blog today.

I'm sorry, I'm sending this anonymous....I'm not very savvy when it comes to computer stuff. I hope you enjoy the picture.
They are my absolute favorite. My late lilacs just bloomed. There are early and late. I love both.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy them my sweet friend.

ReplyDeleteDrop-dead gorgeous. LOVE IT.
ReplyDeleteTake good care, Em
So beautiful and they always smell so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you are enjoying them inside. For years mine were too small to cut, but now they are filling out and this year I brought some blooms inside too! I would love for you to share it at the Home Sweet Garden Party!

My parents had a row of lilacs in their backyard when I was growing up and I do miss them! The scent is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! I didn't cut any from my trees this year. The blooms were sparse and it seems that the deer may have eaten some.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And a very handsome "holder" in the first pic;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post, love the colors in your photos! :)
ReplyDeleteWe moved to an acreage last fall and the previous owner mentioned there was a Persian Lilac by the pond. This spring it came into bloom and the scent is out of this world.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos. Your house looks so fresh and clean.
The thing I miss the most (being in the subtropics) is the heralding of the season with lilacs...I used to bring them in the house by the armful!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, and with such a lovely scent too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love everything about lilacs...
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine,
ReplyDeleteYour lilacs are beautiful. Are you still planning to write about household cleaning and the materials you use? I am interested in learning about this given you committment to a non-toxic home.I so enjoy your blog.
Thank you.
They are so so pretty, I've been putting off trimming back my shoots until I have a place ready to transplant them.
ReplyDeleteMmmm…lilacs…so yummmy!
