June Peonies

I clipped a bouquet of peonies from the garden this evening. It felt like I was saying hello to old friends.

Lilacs, lupines and now peonies... the summer season of a blossoming landscape has begun.

This bouquet of peonies is adorning our entry table. They are the first thing you see when you walk into the house.

Having moved into our rental house in October, I am not sure what blossoms will greet us in the next several months. When I saw the first peony shoots come up a few weeks ago, I declared quite enthusiastically, "Oh, peonies..!"

I wonder what treasured flower will come next.

Have a lovely weekend!

  6. Peonies are a favorite of mine, too. We've moved frequently, and I usually bring along peonies that were originally planted 60 years ago in my grandmother's garden. Yours are beautiful and look right at home in your cottage.

  9. I miss my Peonies. They had the worst year due to excessive rain and power washing. Yours look like a painting. Stunning!

  10. They're just so beautiful!! I have to ask my father in law if he still has some left in his garden. I believe they've been in bloom for a while now and I'm not quite sure how long they last. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers. : )

Have a beautiful week ~ Wendy

  12. Your peonies are lovely! You really lucked out in getting them. My hydrangeas have started blooming and as soon as it was possible I was out there cutting some to bring inside! Flowers and ironstone, a perfect match:)

  13. Not just peonies, pink peonies. I love how they smell. All "peony" perfumes smell fake to me. SO pretty!

    Take good care, Em
