I love having original art work hanging over the 'toilette'. It's typically an overlooked area and having something beautiful there offers an unexpected treat.
I LOVE the graphics on this box of matches that I use for bath candles. I'll continue to refill it until it's old and worn.
One of my favorite things to do in the fall is to replace my white cotton robe with my cozy brown velour robe. It's nice and long and feels like a fancy dress.
This tin band aid box makes needing a band aid a little more enjoyable.

I love my little mementos sitting on the ledge of the wainscot. The baby deer is a childhood souvenir I got at Yosemite National Park. The oval bird drawing is another 'creature comfort' as I love animals and looking at them while brushing my teeth or washing my hands warms my heart.
What are the simple things that make you happy?
You have very sweet things and as always, lovely rooms. I love your new photo - you are lovely too!

ooooh your chocolate robe looks so terribly delic and cosy!!!
ReplyDeleteI read your post with a smile on my face and my kitty, Olivia, sitting beside my knees. That makes me happy!

ps I love what you said about your brown robe making you feel like you're wearing a fancy dress.
I LOVE the bath tub and window! how Very pretty and how great it must be to relax in a bubble bath on a fall night listening to all the little sounds night brings.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy little window! The light it lets in is just perfect. I used to live near Yosemite, so I can relate to childhood memories of there!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it. Love the velour robe. Very snuggly.
ReplyDeleteI love the position of your bathtub and just every little detail of this room. I too keep little mementoes that would mean nothing to anyone else but hold fond memories for me. On honeymoon in Boston almost 16 years ago I cut my finger and bought a band aid tin (we don't have these in the UK) - I still use it now and whenever I buy plasters (band aids) I transfer them to my tin!
ReplyDeleteYou bathroom is a delight :o)
ReplyDeleteI think your painting is really beautiful, thank you for sharing.
oh, what a cozy bathrobe;). you've added such sweet touches to your bathroom. i especially like the little fox matchbox.

Oh my, what a beautiful bathroom!
ReplyDeleteWas wondering though...where do you keep all of your products? Do you put them away for photos?
I love your style, and love visiting your blog. Your home is just gorgeous.

A hot cup of brewed tea in the morning, looking at the woods out our kitchen windows, sitting in my sun room with a book, a snuggle on the sofa with my Westie, Hobbes.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Simple things that make me happy: a bubble bath, a glass of wine, a good book, seeing my dog lay in the sunshine....
ReplyDeleteIt IS all about the simple little things! Love the little deer. Cutie!
ReplyDeleteI love your balance of cozy and fresh. It looks so inviting!!!
ReplyDeleteLike you, my bathtub sits under my window. Happiness to me is relaxing in my tub and watching the deer dining in the fields behind our home at sunset. :)
Trina,
ReplyDeleteIt is always the little things that make me so happy! I have a bar of clove scented soap with this beautiful spring green cameo on top. I keep it in this little white cabinet(that probably would look great at your house) that currently sits on my sink vanity with all my perfume bottles. The cabinet is glass on 3 sides so I see its contents daily. Sometimes when I open it instead of reaching for fragrance I pick up the soap and just breathe the in the aromatic scent and admire the cameo.
Stopping by here often, makes me really happy!
Hmmm...about that missing pic?

May I say... Ditto?!!! Our antique tub sits under a large window too (it 'was' planned;), I have oil paintings throughout the bath (including over the toilette!) and I too have an old tin band-aid box in the medicine cabinet! While brushing my teeth or washing my hands I look at an oil painting that hangs above the sinks that so reminds me of one of our favorite drives up the Clackamas River outside of Estacada!
ReplyDeleteIt's the little things, isn't it?!!

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your posts and especially this one. You have a beautiful home!
a tub filled to the brim with lots of bubbles and scented hot water...Caswell Massey lotions and powder, and lots of time to soak. only showers i like are outdoor showers...lovely bath!
ReplyDeleteI'm a newcomer to your blog -- you'll be proud to know you've quickly become one of my favorite escapes. I also have a country farmhouse, and the tiniest bedroom became a place for my favorite childhood memories. Coincidentally, I posted some pictures today. They include a little monkey pillow, wooden shoes my dad brought from a trip to Holland, Michigan, and all my childhood books. It's great to have kindred spirits who pause to contemplate what warms our hearts.

Your bathroom is one of my inspiration baths! I love the simplicity of it and all of your great decorative touches!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Hi Trina,
ReplyDeleteLove this bathroom! So calm.
Probably my favorite "little thing" in life is my morning tea and toast ritual. I'm somewhat lost without it.
Lovely as always,
~janet
Ok, the band-aid box and the velour robe - that does it!! (They do it?) (That did it?) I think you get the idea...sometimes it's the littlest of things. In my bathroom, I'm loving the Potterybarn-esque lidded glass canister which holds pure white bars of castille soap, a $1 thrift store find!
ReplyDeleteLove your band aid box and matches. Very cool.
ReplyDeletei`m not saying this to brown-nose, but your blog is one way i relax! simple pleasures, bring them on!
ReplyDeleteyou are!! :)
ReplyDeleteHappened across your blog, and first thing I saw was this amazing picture of your bathtub underneath the window with the beautiful shutters. Looks like a picture straight out of an interior magazine. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! :)
ReplyDeleteI also love the little tin band aid box... and your farmhouse is beautiful!
Greetings from the Netherlands!

Your things are really sweet! My kids and I love looking out our kitchen window to watch the birds at the little feeder we put up. It's a simple pleasure we truly enjoy. Also love the sunshine coming through the windows. Makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteI can't resist a bathroom post, as we're in the process of sprucing up our master bath. Your room is lovely - I, too, love the idea of art in the bathroom. If I'm lying in the tub I should have beautiful things to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your bathtub under the window!
ReplyDeleteYour home is so simple but so stylish just love it. Sandy
ReplyDelete>>What are the simple things that make you happy?
ReplyDeleteThat's easy: Reading your blog! :) Thank you for each time that you post!
Im ashamed to admit that I never even thought to keep bandaids in my bandaid tin. Duh!
ReplyDeleteChildhood souvenirs are precious. I have one that I love--it's an Indian made small wall hanging basket I bought in about 1964 at the Alabama Coushatta Indian Reservation in East Texas. Seeing this post inspires me to find the right spot for it.
ReplyDeleteSimple pleasures. That's what joyful days are made of...
ReplyDeleteBy a fluke I found your blog. It's so great, that I fixed it on my blog! And you are absolutly right: the simple things are the best.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day

I love your blog and your farmhouse. Hope you don't mind if I follow. Carla
ReplyDeleteLove your house...I do the same thing with empty matchboxes!!
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful. A restful place.
ReplyDeleteYou have the nicest bathrooms. Hmm...Thinking about the things I love in the bathroom, prompted the thought of something that I don't love. I don't know if anyone else has any particular feelings about this subject one way or another, but it drives me crazy when people decorate their toilets. No flowers, tissue box holders, little bowls of potpourri or potted plants on the tank. No ruffled covers or little rugs around the base... It is a toilet for Pete's sake, I believe one should allow the poor thing to retain some dignity :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the black and white photo of my children on the beach sitting beside my clawfoot tub. I love an etched glass for drinking water simple fresh flowers a must!
ReplyDeleteI love the half shutter option under the bathroom window. I have the same plan for my farm windows, just hunting for the right shutters.
ReplyDeleteNIcely done.
