Grieving

I am overwhelmed with sadness.
My heart is heavy with unbearable grief for the precious lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary.

The teachers.
The staff.
The children.

The beautiful children.

The families who will grieve for them for the rest of their lives.

It's just too much for the heart to bear.

  1. I haven't slept the last two nights. Can't get all those poor souls out of my mind, what fear and horror they must have felt. The poor babies and the brave staff who tried to protect them.

  4. I agree. My daughter and I were driving around our town, when we had to stop for a line of little children and their teachers crossing in front of us. She said, "How do you shoot that?? How??" My thoughts exactly. :( Kit

  6. Dear Trina,

I'm glad you addressed this on your blog. I read a quote from someone in Newtown who wondered if people elsewhere were affected by this tragedy. It's good to let them know that those of us on the West Coast are grieving with them.

    It's an unfathomable loss.

(Thank you, Susan, for your work in special education, and thank you to all the teachers and educators out there.)

  9. You've spoken my heart. As a mother, I cannot fathom the horror. As a human being, I cannot comprehend how one can do this to another....mutliple others. All those little ones & the brave souls who perished protecting them, may they rest in peace.

  10. The grief is so strong-how can we help? Prayer is all I know to do. My best friend is a special-ed teacher in a small town and I so worry about her going to school these days.
    Blessings to all

  20. It is incredibly hard as a grandma I cannot even imagine the horror and the trauma and deep loss and as a mom of a police officer I hurt for the first ones to arrive and find this kind of carnage. Evil is just that ...dark and evil and it take away so much. We must remember that there are good people out in the world too, many good people. It is just so very hard for us all who can't ever understand the why.

  22. Powerful words and thank you. I am from Canada and I can tell you that all Canadians have been deeply affected as well. Just too sad... I hope that these angels will be the tipping point for our USA neighbour to move towards more protection of children and all citizens.....

  23. I think we are all grieving for these children and their teachers. I sincerely hope steps will be taken to tackle complex issues that will help prevent this in the future. I don't pretend to know what all the issues are or what should be done. I just know that things CAN be done.

  25. Trina,
The whole world must be grieving for those 26 beautiful souls lost in Newtown, their loved ones and the first responders. I'm trying to keep things light and joyful for my children with Christmas approaching, but as a mother, this tragedy has just broken my heart. I too am having trouble sleeping. Many thoughts, love and prayers to those affected by this unthinkable tragedy. I wish there was a way we could somehow lessen their immense pain.

  26. Thank you, Trina, for your post. I share your sadness at this incomprehensible loss of innocent lives and pray that our leaders will summon the political will to take steps, however small, toward ensuring that something like this will not happen again.

  27. Trina, it is important for all of us to embrace this grief, ours, that of those who have lost loved ones - among them all of those beautiful children. Thank you for sharing your own hurt . . . together we somehow will bear it and begin in earnest to pay forward the love in our hearts for this is all that we truly have which might help.
    Peace,
