Pickets and Tulips

So far, I've only planted a small handful of bulbs in the yard. Every year I say that I will plant hundreds, yet every year slips by me. This year...

Hopefully, this post will inspire me to follow through. There's nothing lovelier than the elegant welcome of these lovely ladies at our gate. This variety is from Van Bloem Gardens and is called 'Triumph.'

  1. Ooooo...they are gorgeous! You'll have to post another photo as they open up. I'd love to see their full colour. I love the white on the leaves too.

  2. Hi Trina,
It's always a pleasure to come by your blog and see what you've posted. These tulips are beautiful especially against your white picket fence. :)

  3. What an appropriate name! 'van' means 'from' and 'bloem' means 'flower' in Dutch/flemish
    Have a wonderful spring

  4. Beautiful! About ten years ago I did plant 100 bulbs! They seem to be waning, and it's on my calendar to plant 100 bulbs this Fall!

  5. Lovely seeing these gorgeous blooms. I've never seen tulips in Spain (where I currently live), but they are everywhere in the UK (where I am from). So I always feel a pang of homesickness when I see them. They epitomise Spring for me.

  15. I love the variegated leaves and I'd love to see inside also. I have a variegated hydrangea that has finally begun to grow and bloom this year. I'm very excited. I'm not sure if tulips would grow here, but I'd love to try.

  20. So lovely. I did, in fact, plant over a hundred bulbs last fall and it gives me sooo much joy to see them all in bloom throughout our yard, as tulips have always signified to me 'spring has sprung."

  22. So beautiful! I love tulips but haven't had any in years - things seem to eat the bulbs! These inspire me to try again and I am writing "Buy Triumph tulip bulbs" on my September calendar page. Thank you!

  23. I remember you speaking of planting these. They are beautiful! I did plant 100 daffodil bulbs a while back. It was hard work, but each Spring I so look forward to their return. I love tulips, but so do the rabbits! They don't seem to care for the daffodils. Love your picket fence, too.

  25. Oh it won't be long before Graham and Margaret are pulling these from the ground. :) They are beautiful. We have so many squirrels that bulbs do not fair well in our yard. I do love them!!

  27. Absolutely stunning Trina. I live in an old home and there are these three tulips that come up every year, which I'm told, have come up for the last 80 years.
