Center Hall Progress

The center hall upon purchase of our house.

One million moons (or so it feels) later - as of today.

New railing and new stair treads.
Paint removed from floors (covered with Ram Board for protection).
New front door with sidelights.
Lead paint removed from basement door.
Lead paint removed from door trim surrounds.
New crown moulding.

The windows upstairs are covered in plywood at the moment (they are being painted) so stairs are a bit more dark than usual.

We are close.

The heating system is going into the back el this week.

  2. Yes you are close my friend. I know it seems like forever to you but you have done so much and when it's ready it will be all worth it. "Good things come to those who wait." So exciting. Can't wait. Love you.

  4. What an amazing journey!! I'm so thankful you're allowing us to tag along. You have an AMAZINGLY talented husband, a crew of wonderful artisans assisting you, and - most importantly - the patience of Job. All of which will soon reward you with a lovely home. Bravo.

  6. Oh the excitement. What state of repair/disrepair are you going to move in with? Having two small children I would think more finished than not. As adults, it's amazing what we can live with while restoring. I'm living that dream (friends say nightmare)...lol!

    1. All that will be needed is paint, but hopefully, most of that will be done before as well. Of course there will always be projects - like built-in bookcases in the library, and eventually a more permanent kitchen...But the dirty work will be behind us, which was our goal.

  7. Looking great! I cannot wait to see that stair railing in it's full glory. The side windows are plenty to fill that space with light.

    1. I know, we are so exhausted and still have so much to do! The storage unit alone gives me light headedness. But hopefully, it will prove to be the most fun and we'll get our second wind! ; )

  9. It looks beautiful Catherine, I'm sure you are getting so anxious, but it will be so worth the wait. I can't wait to see the floors in your hall.

  10. Your work has inspired us to stand firm on our restoration. While the architect has made his case for replacing elements that could be restored in the name of expedience, we have made the decision to keep them. I don't want to lose the charm we fell in love with by making it a shiny new penny. Thank you for sharing your project
