Eastlake Mirror

I stopped in at our local ReStore yesterday and found the loveliest Eastlake mirror. I was looking for a full sized bed frame, so not sure (Mike is especially not sure) how I left with a mirror.

It's in outstanding shape and for $45 I couldn't leave it behind. I actually purchased it with a specific spot in mind, though not on the wall where I took this photograph. I will keep you posted as we continue to finish our painting projects.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are not-for-profit retail stores that sell both new and used donated home goods. Their inventory ranges from furniture to appliances, lighting, and many other building materials. All proceeds go to support Habitat's efforts both locally and around the world.

I first learned of ReStore when following Steve Thomas and his wife Evy's renovation of Sea Cove Cottage. Steve Thomas is spokesman for Habitat for Humanity International. You can follow along with their renovation here

  3. Love the Eastlake nmirror . . . I like the Restore and frequent our locale two Restores often.

Recently I found a perfect barn board for one dollar and cut it in three pieces for a table runner for one project and a piece for a side board for another.

Looking forward to seeing your cottage uodates . . .

  5. Gorgeous! What a great score. I can completely see how you came home with it. I'm a frequent visitor to our Restore, but I never find treasures like this.

  6. Your mirror is gorgeous! It will look perfect in your home.

A few years ago, I found a Friedman Brothers (reproduction) Louis XV mirror on Craigslist for $39;I bought it as fast as I could. The same one sells new for almost $6k although the one I purchased was an antique since it was over 40 years old and owned by the man's Grandmother. I think she would be proud that it went to someone who appreciates it so much. I consider it one of my prized possessions since it is just gorgeous. Ironically, I had purchased some antique crystal sconces years ago that matched perfectly. I am sure your mirror has found it's place to it's perfect owner as well. Congrats on a great find. That is so exciting.

  9. My mother decorated our house in Eastlake - I haven't heard about him in eons. I grew up in the 60s and wished we had Danish Modern like all my friends did (!)

My mother would drag us to the old stores to find pieces and was all excited if she found something. We had an Eastlake daybed and an console phonograph - like the one you see in RCA's His Master's Voice.

Sadly, my siblings and I only kept one Eastlake piece, and all the rest went to auction. But all of us appreciate antiques now!

Finally, I always thought of Eastlake as a poor man's Herter Brothers. But that's not to mean it's not as charming!

  10. What a buy! I have an-almost-out-of-control fetish for mirrors but would gladly get rid of one so this one could be used. :)
