After several months of a mild green Winter, the snow has come. Over two feet of snow fell over
the course of one cozy winter day. It is knee deep, and as high as the porch floor.
The landscape is quiet under a blanket of white.
The berry garden (blackberries and blueberries) will be sleepy for some time.
The soft twinkle from the holiday lights still strung along the fence whisper a soft warmth.
The dining patio stands still. I was out to sweep the boxwood
hedge, something I do after each big snowstorm.
The dining room is very quiet early on this snowy winter morning.
The babies are playing in the warm coziness of the living room with 'DaDa.'
so beautiful. i am in utah and that same storm hit us too. the kiddos look so dang cute trina.

ReplyDeleteWe normally get lots of snow, by this time of the year, we wouldn't be surprise to have a couple of feet of the fluffy white stuff on the ground,but this year, nothing!!! We can still see the grass peeking trough the snow! and the cold, of the cold weather!
I love snow better then the cold!!!
Such idyllic winter scenes - both the photos and the word-pictures. I love the little touches of twinkle lights amidst all that blue-shadowed, cold whiteness.

Ah .. I was thinking of Lucy just the other day too. My little one is almost 19 and has slowed way down. Over the past few winters I have had to shovel walkways and p-spots for her, whereas before she loved to just romp around in it.

ReplyDeleteVery beautiful, I have never laid my eyes in real life on that ort of snow. I live in outback Australia and its been boiling lately. These photos are a welcome relief. Are you still able to access your town with this much snow? How much do you need to cut your access? I love that sort of isolation where you've only got your close neighbors to share pantry items and your time with.

ReplyDeleteTown is about a twenty minute drive and the road is usually plowed and sanded so it's typically okay. Our road however is not maintained by the town, nor is our driveway of course, so the hardest part about getting into town is just making it up the dirt road.

ReplyDeleteWow! That's a lot of snow. We live in WA state - and are recovering from a fairly good size snow storm. We aren't equipped for this, so when we get a foot of snow it creates chaos. Our home is up in the foothills and we were without power up until last night.. Gorgeous pictures of your property!

ReplyDeleteIt's 39 degrees celcius in Western Australia today which is 102.2 farenheit so snow is a LITTLE hard to relate to lol. Must confess I love the heat so it's no biggie for me...we have a swimming pool but no air conditioning so at least we have ONE way to cool off. Snow? We see it on postcards and Xmas cards here in Perth hahaha but that's as close as we ever get to it! Your pics are so picture perfect!

I posted my photos but I was bummed that my trees weren't filled with heavy snow making everything look magical. Last year we had so much snow, it took 3 months to leave and we were so sick of it. And this year so far we have just gotten two snow falls. So strange. But maybe it's better for this week that we only got 4 inches because my husband is away at Sundance and I would have to plow. Hee Hee.

ReplyDeleteWe have just moved home to the beaches of Australia, after four years in the English countryside...our youngest daughter is used to snow and cold weather at this time of year {it was snowing as we left England in our little village} and now she is in a little bikini at the beach every morning, with her big brother and sister...we are redoing our beach house after decorating a big old english country house for so long- it is lovely to see your snow pictures...
