Despite the evening frosts, two little brave roses continued to blossom in the garden. All of their friends had gone to sleep days ago. There they stood, together, through the dark cold nights, awaiting the warmth of the next sunrise.
I took them in hopes of extending their last few days of soft beauty and heavenly fragrance.
This variety is called New Dawn, which are wonderful climbers. I planted two along our picket fence and a third grows on a trellis near the dining patio.

New Dawn is my absolute favorite rose. It has such a delicate colour and a stunning perfume. They look so pretty in your pots.

Gorgeous. Our pink roses bloomed up until a couple of weeks ago. I have never seen the likes of it. And it has been cold here a few days. We are Zone 3b, so that isn't pleasant for plants! Love the pink roses - still hanging on my plant too but looking faded.

ReplyDeleteHard to believe they lasted this long but now you get to enjoy them inside. It's always hard to let go this time of year isn't it. I love New Dawn roses...I had two in the garden and two on my trellis back in the city and hopefully next year we'll plant some here in the country. Mostly I'm looking forward to planting David Austin roses again...I love English roses. Enjoy your roses and the last of the season. Maura :)
love it when you post pics of the beautiful flowers that grow in your garden. We too are still getting roses that are blooming. We recently moved down south and I have tons of rose bushes in different varieties. Not sure what they are all called, but I know they are different because they all bloom with different color roses.

I even took a peak at our old house & the glorious display of roses that MOTH so lovingly planted. Your New Dawn is truly stunning!

Okay, this is the first time I've seen this blog. Your house is seriously stunning. I will definitely be popping in frequently to drool. As for the roses, I feel ya. Our breathtaking fuschia climbers just had their last bloom; made me so sad. I put them in a big vase on our coffee table to enjoy.

ReplyDeleteI KNEW they were New Dawn from the picture. Here in NW CT I have some brave buds on MY New Dawn climber. We have already had a hard frost but since they're near the house (or ON the house) they persevere altho all around them is over. I love New Dawn -- and this is yet another reason to love them.
