This was dug by hand (due to trenching equipment failure) in order for us to switch from overhead to underground power.
...and just all around amazing person, from the sound of it. :-)
ReplyDeleteIndeed he is! Truly the kindest, most honorable person I have ever known.
DeletePlus, I believe he is from Madison, Wisconsin, my hometown. Go Badgers!
DeleteWhew! All I can say. He's a keeper.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree, KEEPER should be the first word on that list. And to make things even nicer, he is not bad looking :)
ReplyDeleteIn inspecting the trench, I see he is a root tree protector... he dug around some of the pine tree roots rather than cut through them... He IS a keeper!
ReplyDeleteYes, I saw that too. He knew that I worried about hurting the trees. He went the extra mile for sure.
DeleteWhat a workout! I grew up with a Dad who sounds just like the same kind of man-he instilled in me the value of hard work and self-reliance and still does all his own work at the age of 77. Nothing can (or will even attempt) to stop him-even sore muscles!
ReplyDeleteKeeper for sure, my 'do it yourself' homebuilder husband is many of those same things ! You are lucky !!
ReplyDeleteMike is amazing! All of his hard work and involvement in all aspects of your restoration make this house more truly your home. I think it touches all of us, your readers.
ReplyDeleteJane
What a blessing from God!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the man cooks too! You guys make the cutest couple! linda r (phila burbs)
ReplyDeleteYou picked a good one! I only wish my hubby was all that too. (In good faith I will say he excels in other arenas.)
ReplyDeleteWe had our power lines buried too... so nice to not have to look at them, and for storms not to take them down!
ReplyDeleteYour guy is amazing!
ReplyDeleteKEEPER many times over . . .
I think you are a great TEAM too!
What a lovely post! Just love!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
Titti

That is so great Flo! Yes, all of those things too!
DeleteAnd changer of shirt when said shirt doesn't provide the beautiful bouquet or fresh picked produce with the perfect white background...
DeleteWe are so blessed.
Yes, he no longer asks me why he can't wear his old college Green Bay sweatshirt when he's in a picture!
DeleteThe man needs a nap!
ReplyDeleteyou have an amazing fella there, but you already knew that.
ReplyDeleteIs his name Jack by any chance?
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny, that was my original title - Jack of all Trades.
DeleteSo remember this list when he doesn't put down the toilet seat or leaves his socks on the floor k. LOL Love this pic of Mike. This is a great post Catherine. You are blessed. Love you both.

How nice.
ReplyDelete...and Money Saver. All those skills he has and his willingness to work hard save your family a lot of money! I know because my husband's titles are virtually identical to yours! Keepers!
ReplyDeleteYes, and that's an enormous component to all of this. It's very challenging as there's only so much one person can do in a certain amount of time, but he's getting there,
DeleteAnd cute too, btw.
ReplyDeleteYou are TRULY blessed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed! And the best part of his cuteness is that he's completely unaware about it.
DeleteI have no idea how he has found time to do all of this. I am exhausted, just reading this list. Thank you for sharing this renovation. It has been fascinating. Can't wait to see you get to move in. What a guy!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe's exhausted too! We are so looking forward to getting through this phase. It's definitely been hard on him.
DeleteHunky too! Where did you meet such a fabulous catch?
ReplyDeleteWonderful you appreciate what he does for the family & for you to share it! Love your posts, only wish there were more :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing person - very rare and very special....
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see how much he is loved and appreciated.....
Yeh, could you tell him to hurry up? I'm exhausted sitting here watching him work! Love what you guys do.
ReplyDeleteWOW! A match made in heaven, wherever it may be.
ReplyDeleteand a handsome fella with a right nice smile (self satisfied, perhaps, and with reason?). I'm enjoying following your house story, and somewhat envious, too. Keep those posts coming!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful tribute! I'd say you make a great team. Trench digging is brutal. I am sure he was trying to focus on the long term benefits of buried electrical lines. It will be incredible when you get to call it home. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you both. You have a truly amazing husband, and you know it! Lucky you.
ReplyDeleteI love your posts and your story and what you are doing together. Thanks for sharing!
Talented much???
ReplyDeleteJust curious...did you decide on your own to bury the wires/cables because of the look, or the storms that are always knocking them out? Also, is the city/town helping to pay for any of that?
ReplyDeleteBoth (although mostly cosmetic) and it was less expensive if we dug the ditch ourselves.
DeleteSomeone better be scheduling a massage!
ReplyDeleteLoved this post to honor Mike. He is amazing. Not only a wonderful husband, daddy and saver of old homes he is such a kind, interesting and thoughtful man. Dan and I are honored to call him a friend. xxoj.
ReplyDeleteWow! This wins the prize! I have this feeling when this house is "done", he's going to say, we are staying! Husband/Father/Overworked Homeowner Award!
