Like the other rooms in our rental house, our bedroom has been pulled together with love and desire for comfort and happiness. But also, with the need to use things we already had on hand. The only new items are the curtains (IKEA) and their hardware (from our local curtain shop). I also picked up the wicker basket for holding firewood on the hearth.
With many of our belongings still in boxes (beloved picture frames, dish ware, artwork, etc.), we are living very comfortably but sparsely. I have always gravitated toward minimalist design so it doesn't bother me. But there's always that vase you need, or picture frame you miss seeing...
I took these images in the early morning so the room is quite dark.
The wrinkled duvet cover and bed linens are fresh from the wash but not from the ironing board - no time for that I'm afraid. If I waited to take pictures until I pressed the bed linens, I would never post on it!
Here are a few more photos just before bedtime. I decided to use the IKEA bed from our old guest house because it's so comfortable. I love the padded headboard and the ease with which you can nestle in with a good book.
how charming -please tell me you use the fireplace in the winter!
ReplyDeleteI have been waiting to see this room and it did not disappoint. It is clearly cozy, elegant, comfortable, and very calming. Not sure I would ever get out of bed if it was mine! Thanks for posting photos- made my day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful...peaceful bedroom.
ReplyDeleteWanda
Sadly, we have not used the fireplace even though it is in working order. But the summer nights are filled with coolness (it's raining today) so perhaps we will have a summer fire.

Your touches are beautiful wherever you live . . .
ReplyDeleteSuch comfort and style you bring to a room . . .
Serene! I love the wrinkles, too :) Thanks for sharing your home with us.
ReplyDeleteMay I ask where you purchased the basket?
Mary
Dear Mary, The basket was purchased at an antique show nearby. It was such a unique shape that I couldn't help but take it home.

Simply stunning. Blessings, Catherine
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful bedroom!!!!! angie from germany
ReplyDeleteWhere is your rug and cozy white bedding from? love this room!
ReplyDeleteWhat a serene and charming bedroom! I love the bench you placed at the foot of the bed, and the wicker basket is really a nice touch. And the winkled bed linen? - that makes the entire room more relaxed and lived in - I love it! xx
ReplyDeleteI love that your linens are not pressed. It makes me feel less guilty about never having time t iron mine. Beautiful bedroom by the way. It looks eztremely comfy.
ReplyDeleteI sense spaciousness...open, fresh, uncluttered and uncomplicated but FABULOUS!
ReplyDelete[In my 'Blog Honor Roll' i see 'A Country FArmhouse'..am always drawn to titles w the words, farm, porch, etc.]
Love the simplicity - it's so restful!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely. We are in a rental, too. I tried to make ours comfortable too with bed curtains (similar feel to yours on the wall) and reading chairs.
ReplyDeleteYours looks so inviting!
It looks really lovely! I do have to ask - where are your bureaus? My bedroom has two large antique bureaus and they just take up so much space.
ReplyDeleteDulcie, There are no bureaus. We have a large closet in the hallway and that's where all of our clothes are. Mike installed some shelves in the closet so it works for all of our clothes. Except dresses - the ceilings are so low that dresses can't hang without folding!

I love your simple style, I love that each piece is showcased in simple design. Love the toile! And I love the coziness of the wrinkles:) Love it all:)
ReplyDeleteWow so cute as always and such amazing light!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing. So exciting to see a new room!! I know you haven't unpacked things, but it looks timeless and really like a complete room, not sparse at all. Love the white flowers in a white room.
ReplyDeleteTake care, Em
Calm-inducing...thus sleep inducing. Perfection!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fireplace with the painting above! very inviting.
ReplyDeleteI love the way in which you mix antiques and Ikea - yet one more reason why I enjoy your blog immensely! I am drawn to the green colored paint throughout the house. Do you happen to know the color, or something similar?
ReplyDeleteI'm just curious if you can share why you moved and how long you are planning to rent. You are so lucky to have found this gorgeous house and are so talented to make it into a beautiful home.
ReplyDeleteWhat a simply beautiful, comfortable and peaceful room. I love the IKEA bed with the padded comfortable headboard. You are so lucky to have it ! They have stopped stocking it in the closest IKEA to us - I'm so disappointed. Anything even close to it is triple the price !
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely retreat! Do you happen to have the model information of the Ikea bed? I looked at the old guest cottage post, but didn't see it listed there. Something like that would be perfect (and affordable) for my 14 year old daughter's room. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDear Liza, I don't believe that they make them anymore. I believe when I went to source them for the Country Living shoot, we discovered that. It's such a shame because it is a great style and so affordable.
ReplyDeleteDear Noelle, Unfortunately, we (nor the homeowner) knows the color. I had to match it for touch up but the paint guy mixed it using the old eyeball method!
Dear Jo, We moved to return to a place that feels like home. We will live in our lovely rental until we find the right home to purchase.
Best, Catherine
Charming. I think the simplisty is perfect! Wish we had a fireplace in our room.
ReplyDeleteIf I could find a rental like this I would be in heaven! So warm and comfy .
ReplyDeleteI am a kitchen person. I've been waiting for a kitchen post.....please? Soon?. I love your style. Love your other place in Oregon (I live south of Seattle)
ReplyDeleteOh- I love the color and as much as I love a white fireplace mantle I think yours is perfect in that setting. Great choice-it looks wonderful.

The bed looking so cozy and inviting and a fireplace to boot. It's a wonderful and romantic bedroom. Linda R (Phila burbs)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, peaceful room!
ReplyDeleteAfter years of admiring this beautiful white Ikea bed and setting money aside, I was devastated when a few months ago I went to purchase it only to learn that it had been discontinued. Oh, the sadness!
These pictures are gorgeous! What a wonderful bedroom. And I prefer the bed linen unpressed - it's so homely and doesn't look untidy because the rest of the room is so pristine. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this!
It is so refreshing to see "real" antiques used in such a fresh way. Lovely room all around!
ReplyDeleteI don't have time right now to read the other comments...but I need to say......."linen is not meant to be ironed"!!!
ReplyDeleteSheesh! It is supposed to look exactly like your bed does!
Brava! and Bravo!
Simply beautiful...
ReplyDeleteTessa~
