Dusk on a Spring Evening

As we were heading upstairs for baths and bedtime tonight, I was caught by the wonderful light at dusk that made this room glow. This room receives wonderful light at the end of the day, but unfortunately we are rarely in the room during that time.

So I took a quick photo so that I could savor it for awhile.

There are three large lilac bushes in our yard, and I am so excited for the day when they start to blossom. Many of the trees are showing buds, and bulbs are beginning to push through the earth.

It's such a wonderful time of the year.

  2. Not evening light but morning light this time of year have been incredible! And, I, too, have been taking pictures of the shadows and light that comes into Linderhof! I never really thought it was to savor but I guess it was! A lovely picture . . .

  3. The warm glowing light that you speak of has a name. That time of day is referred to as "the gloaming" It is the time when everything takes on a different perspective because of the light. It is my favorite time of day and I have always felt that regardless of having had a stressful day, the golden light will lift my spirits and catch me always by surprise. It changes the grass the trees and the shadows as the light helps them take on a different form. I have always said a prayer/wish the minute I see the light change and take a second to stop and behold it.
May you always be reminded during that time of the beauty of life and be in awe of the reality of where the light truly comes from.

  4. Lighting can make or break a room - esp natural. This is so lovely!! Spring and fall are my favorite seasons as well - the temperatures, light, and flowers of course!

  10. So beautiful! I know Lee is an author, a real wordsmith, and I love her sharing "gloaming." I love it when there's just the right word for something.

    Take care, Em
