Hammock & Lilacs

Following a cool and rainy spring, hanging the hammock this summer was especially wonderful. Finally, warm temperatures and blue skies have arrived and it feels so good.

The Blueblossom Lilacs are in full bloom along the driveway this week. They're native to the area and offer the sweetest scent of blossoming summer.

I gathered up a bouquet for the small wooden table we put next to the hammock.

This was Hubby's first hour of many to be spent napping in the hammock this summer.

  2. I bought a wonderful hammock for myself. But I always find my husbond there when it is time to relax after dinner? Do you have any solution for that garden problem??? ;-)

And we all know that your sweet hubby is way too busy doing house-projects to get many naps!! Dan always jokes that he has to go to work to rest up!

Hammocks are such a wonderful sight come summer. Nothing spells out relaxation in quite the same way. Looks like hubby is taking full advantage!

  14. What a treat to have lilacs this time of year...I didn't know there was a variety that carried over into summer, how wonderful! To smell their sweet scent while laying in the hammock must be heavenly, looks like the perfect summer spot (although your porch is probably a close second)!

BTW- That hammock looks like it's big enough to hold four nappers...just a thought. ;)

makes me want to set mine out...it's just way too hot here in Texas, maybe early mornings and evenings(if the bugs don't get me)!

  22. Hi Trina!

I'm just finding your blog & wanted to say that I too had twins at the very age that you'll be having yours. CONGRATULATIONS to you & your husband!!!! My twins are almost 5 now which is so hard to believe.

Having a baby is the most wonderful thing that can ever be imagined & the love you have for that precious little one can't be put into words. Now imagine that times "2", it is simply miraculous!:)

I'm looking forward to reading more of your blog & checking out the updates of your "double blessings" as you go along! By the way, what a beautiful pregnant mama you are....you just glow!

One last thing, I posted my comment here as I wasn't sure you would see it on your announcement posts, since there was over 400 comments!?! Since I don't have a blog(& not the most computer savvy person!), I don't know how it all works. Hopefully there's a way for you to get in touch with me if you'd like to ask me any questions. I'd be happy to 'talk' to you! One more thing, we have a total of "5" children...I had them all in less than 5 years. We, too, wanted a large family & prayed that the Lord would bless us with several children & boy did HE ever...we're still in awe!

  25. Hammock, lilacs - all you need is an icy cold drink and you're set! New to your blog and enjoying it - thanks! And congrats on the twins - wonderful! My oldest two are twins (21 now!) and I loved it all.

  26. My first job for the day is to plant 3 new lilacs - I hope they will be as lovely as yours! It's too cold and windy here for hammocks at the moment but what a great idea for summer - I'll have to start looking for the perfect spot. Enjoy your weekend. Leigh

  28. This is a wonderful place to visit. I love your farmhouse, the sensibility with which you share your story, which, by the way, has a certain similarity to mine (at least the TWIN part). One of my twins got married in October almost 5 years ago and is trying to get pregnant right now. We are all crossing our fingers. She will be 34 in December, when your twins are due! Congratulations to the both of you. I, too, have a wonderful hammock and it is such a wonderful place to be in the summer, when the mosquitoes aren't out! Love Portland. Have vacationed on Orcas Island twice and will return again. It is heaven there!

  31. Congratulations!
I am thrilled for you and your husband.
I wonder sometimes why things happen the way they do, but then I remind myself that God has His Plan for each of us. We don't know the whys of life; we just have to believe the right things will happen for us.....when they are meant to.
Blessings for the baby nesting inside you.
(I enjoy your blog very much)
