Some of our feathered friends decided to use our fireplace chimney to nest this year. The eggs have hatched and the nestlings are chirp, chirp, chirping. The babies walk over to the fireplace and look up at the orchids...Is it you that is chirping?
Our living play room.
Play, play, play...it's our favorite thing to do.

So sweet Trina! I miss those days of babies in my home!
That happened in our fireplace, too, until we had it capped. They were able to cap it yet allow the smoke to escape. I was always afraid the nests would be a fire hazard.
Thats happened with ours also! !! Living rooms always become play rooms with kiddos! Have a great day. Keep playing!!!!!
Ha ! I can just picture it .. how very sweet !

What an interesting spring/summer to have birds in the fireplace....

Your home is beautiful! What a cute story.
Love that story! It made me laugh.
I'm so glad you like it..some might not
This phase returns when they are teenagers! I just love to see your real life images. It is wonderful to peek in on a well lived life!
oh trina, even though the place is strewn w/toys it still looks quite peaceful. the last post with the pic of you and graham put tears in my eyes. it is so lovely. xo
It is very sweet, but as soon as the chicks have flown the nest get the chimney capped. Here in Australia, I know people whose homes have been overrun with bird lice and microscopic mites when the wild birds have nested in the eaves and gutters. The mites disappear after a few weeks, but not before driving the owners crazy with all crawling and the bites. I hope you don't have the same parasite isuues over there.
Your fireplace mantel is beautiful and the mirror is gorgeous. And I remember the days of a living room filled with toys - behind us now, feeling a little wistful seeing yours!
All best,
Phyllis
Awe, so cute and funny. Love what you've done with the room, hee hee! ;)

Trina did they make a nest in the orchids or in the fireplace? Oh gosh, I always say that when one of God's creatures have found peace and the comfort of a home in our home or on our property, I take it as a blessing. For one of God's creatures to find a safe haven. So I'm sure your home will have many blessings on top of all the blessings God has obviously bestowed on you, Mike and the kids. God bless you dear and the baby birds.
Loved this!

yay, yay, yay, for play, play play...thats what homes are all about.....playing and living...what comes out can always be put back again....a friend used to come around to my house, she was wise......and I would say, so sorry about the 'mess' on the floor....and she would answer me with " it will not be like this forever, enjoy it while you can, for so many people would swap with you in an instant for a floor full of toys, for it means you have children, and they do not....."....bless those bundles of love you have there...enjoy....
Ahhhh . . . the curious nature of the child. I am sure you are enjoying each and every moment of their lives. How fast the days do go . . .
The birds always loved our chimney too. We have a cap on ours now but the mockingbirds still sit up there and sing and we can hear them loud as a bell. I remember those days when toys were part of my everyday decor...miss those times...enjoy!
