A Beautiful Summer

The pears are being harvested in the valley, marking the first taste of autumn.

We had a beautiful summer. It was filled with our favorite summer things, but nothing compared to sharing it for the first time with our son and daughter.

Here are a few pictures from our summer.

The four of us. xo

A picnic out by the grape vines under the large fir tree.

First bouquet of peonies.

Out by the lilacs.

Graham and Mike in the hammock.

First green bean.

Evening light on the porch.

A bouquet of hot pink peonies from the garden...

... and all white shelves for summer.

Bombshell hydrangea - a new variety to love.

Happy Fall!

I thought and how will Trina top "bathing hydrangeas?" Well whew, those twins of yours are beautiful. Enjoy all those firsts....my twins are in college and my husband and I just walk around shaking our heads. Where did the time go? How did it go so fast? Enjoy and document many moments and then keep them in a safe spot and at the ready for school projects!

Henna Maria,
The nursery has changed a bit and I hope to do a post on that soon.
Anon,
Lucy is often sleeping out on the dining patio steps. She's getting very tired lately and it's harder for her to get around.
LPC,
We started trying to use their names more often in the past several months! Up until then, we mostly used our favorite terms of endearment.

Oh Trina, so, so touching. You are such an inspiration with your beautiful home, your simplicity and deliberate way of life. And that white summer kitchen is gorgeous (would LOVE to see more pictures), your photography stunning. Also, those babies look like they have bright, blue eyes. I know all babies are born with eyes that look blue at first but some you just know right from the start are truly blue. My middle son is like that, he had big 'ol clear, shining baby blues the day he was born. Take Care.

OMG OMG OMG! Where do I start? The packing crates for the pears makes me yearn to be back in the Mt Hood area. (My holiday always coincided with the picking season.) The lovely lilac! Mine has just come out and the scent is heaven! Your bubbies, oh aren't they so sugary delish!
I am coming back there next July/August, maybe I can come visit!

Big hugs to you all from across the divide dear Trina & Mike, your beautiful pics have warmed my heart immensely. I don't dare show MOTH your tomato pics, due to a combination of an unseasonally cool Summer & a mob of marauding hooligan possums, his tomato crop was a dismal failure.

Gorgeous... I'd love to know where you got the shelf brackets as I'm about to make my own open kitchen shelving. I've been looking forever for ones just like that. Please let me know, thanks!

Jenna Sue,
Our carpenter made our brackets - I showed him a picture of brackets I liked from a magazine. But I've seen similar brackets out there (online and even in Home Depot).
Good luck,
