Baby News

We're having a boy!

And, we're having a girl!

We're very excited about our news and love that we can now refer to our sweet little babies as our baby boy and our baby girl. This is often in reference to their kicks and nudges, which are really quite magical.

With this wonderful news, I've been busy buying a few baby clothes. As a 38 year old woman, pregnant for the first time in her life, shopping for baby clothes makes me very happy.

I hope that everyone had a beautiful September weekend!

  16. How perfect! I'm so, so happy for you. If I could give you any advice for shopping - buy lots! Little newborns go through quite a few items of clothing every day and you may just be too tired to wash everything as often as you need to! I also found having lots of face washers and hand towels very handy for when they bring up their milk. It's just lovely shopping for a new baby..there are so many sweet things. Lots of love to you..Rachaelxx

  61. Congratulations! My babies are the best things that ever happened to me. I can't live without them. Monica (from Friends) said to her son... I gonna love you so much that no other woman will ever be good enough you! That makes me laugh every time. But, it's true. You'll never love anything more. It's almost too much love. Your heart will break all the time with so much pure love and joy. Good luck on your pregnancy and I wish you many (oh, so fleeting) sleep filled nights.

  62. Oh what joy awaits you! So happy to hear that you will have the blessing of both a son and a daughter. I am the daughter of a twin which has made for an interesting journey through life. When you share the womb with someone, you are connected in ways that defy understanding! Blessings to you and your little ones.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Life really doesn't get any better! I am so beyond happy for you both! We have both and I wouldn't trade it for the world. PS love love love the sweaters!

  64. Woot Woot! A millionaire's family. I have a son and a daughter (they're 15 months apart, sometimes it feels like twins!), and it's so nice to have one of each. You're going to love it so much! Sometimes I can't believe how fortunate I am.

The baby clothes are adoreable. Kids grow out of everything so fast! I keep a few things to hand down to my grandkids someday. A few other things (onesies with cute designs, etc.) I have cut quilt squares out of, and I keep collecting them to make into a memory quilt when my kids are grown. Everything else goes to Goodwill, but it's so hard to let them go!

Best of luck to you, your husband and your little babies!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Woohooo! (And I love the sweaters!)

My sister and her husband had boy-girl twins after 7 years of trying and 2 rounds of IUI. Those kids, now almost 5, are the most absolute wonderful little dollies and they LOVE each other so much. My sister says it's been so fun to have one of each (not that you wouldn't love two of the same gender, but one of each is so great too!).

    Anyway - congratulations!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Congratulations! We have twin grandchildren that were 4 yrs in January...a boy & a girl. They are so much fun--but soooo much work as babies. I hope you have someone to help you as much as possible. You won't believe how they both will want fed, burped, changed, cuddled, sung too...and on & on, at the same time! But they are worth it all!!! I enjoy your blog, especially now. :)

  76. What an incredibly exciting blessing!!! Oh, the fun you are going to have with those gorgeous babies - your life will never be the same.
My advice to you (not that you asked for it...) is to completely enjoy the bliss that is the anticipation of meeting those two beautiful angels, but enjoy EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT with that handsome husband of yours~ It shall be a while before you are in the position to enjoy each other without little people wanting to be in the middle of you! :)

  111. gee with 124 comments so far, I'm wondering if you will eva get to read mine! But let me say, congrats congrats, I have a baby boy (3yo) and baby girl (2yo) and it is a divine combo, wait to you get the lassie walking, dresses these days are just to-die-for - I love shopping for both, but best for girly! ALSO that is your summer house (at side bar of blog) = gorgeous, absolutely divine, you must be a decorator - we are about to buy a country property to work on, fix up etc over next year, and I will have to steal some of your ideas I'm afraid!!!

congrats again mate, I had my bubs at 38 & 39yo, wish I was in 20's, but there you go! Guess I have more $$ (which allows me to buy more dresses - trade off), so tiring for my old bones, but thank god I did, if you're like me, the smile never leaves your face, even when the baby girl pulls off her nappy and her poo falls in your DH's hands - very funny for me anyways!!!

  113. Nowadays organic baby clothes come in vibrant colors and fashions. There are even designer organic baby clothes. There are chances of even buying hand made organic baby clothes because there are organic yarns which make clothes for babies and they are more hygienic than the machine made clothes.

I have two boys myself. I actually had a question for you. We live in a subdivison at the moment, but just found a wonderul old farm house that we are going to go look at. I am just a little afraid of not having neighbors really close by. Does this ever bother you? I like the idea of country living, and so does my husband. I'm sure you are really busy, but any info on your country living would be a great help! Thanks so much!

  140. Hi Beth,
I was born and raised in suburbia and then moved to a small town in Maine to go to college. So I've lived a more rural life for twenty years now. I personally prefer the privacy and sense of solitude of country life. But I think one has to go with their instincts...both ways of living offer their own comforts.
    Best of luck!

  155. Hello from Northern Ontario Canada!
I have been following your blog for about a year now. I linked to you from a friends blog one day and have been in love with your writing and photographs ever since.

I am 38 as well and have yet to be married. I long to have children but haven't met the right man yet. You've given me hope that one day I too will experience the magic and joy of having my own child.

Living where I do it is difficult to meet someone. The population is very small (approx 2000). I am where I am as a result of my career. I'd like to return to a larger center but of course it all hinges on being able to transfer my job, or changing careers entirely...

I digress. Thank you for sharing your news, and giving me hope. Congratulations on your pregnancy and your fabulous news!
    Yours sincerely,
    E.
